The Other One
Oct. 24, 1972
Performing Arts Center

An unusual ‘The Other One’>’He’s Gone’>’The Other One’ sandwich that pheatures a phantastic ‘Philo Stomp’ and excellent group interplay.

They Love Each Other
May 14, 1978
Providence Civic Center

Features a beautiful solo from Jerry that doesn't falter despite its intricacy. You can hear the crowd roar its approval on the excellent SBD.

China Cat Sunflower -> I Know You Rider
Feb. 22, 1974
Winterland Arena

Twangy on top and chubby below. Phil's mighty sonics in the second break of CCS could be dangerous--don't listen to this while ice fishing!

The guitar solo, man!

Mystery Train

The only known version the boys played and they nail it. Check the super smooth transition into the only known 'My Babe'. Only circulates in AUD.

The Other One

In the video for Dave's 11, Lemieux said that '72 is one of the best years for TOO. This version is probably one reason why he and I share that opinion in common.

Grendel, while it doesn't include this whole show, the 'Dead Set' double-CD reissue contains this JS among some other gems, and the sound is fantastic--as in, some of the best-sounding live Dead out there, to these ears, anyway. I'll have to check out that matrix for the rest of the show--thanks for the heads up.
Playin' In The Band

Way back when, there was a poster in my junior high home economics class showing a cornucopia of assorted sweets that read 'Too much of a good thing is simply wonderful'. Same goes for this. If some of those teeth-grinding '72 versions are a bit astringent on the old noodle, this one here is the same thing--just better decanted.
Let It Grow
Oct. 16, 1989
Meadowlands Arena

My current favorite standalone version. Jerry is very much 'in the zone' with his soloing, and a unique zone it is. Underrated on these pages, for sure.
Dark Star

Ohio Theatre

The last of the great 'Tighten Up's.
