Truckin'
Oct. 20, 1989
The Spectrum

Made special by the 15 minute jam that follows. This is the longest version of the song with Brent that I can find, adding to this already unique show

Drums -> Space
Oct. 31, 1983
Marin Veterans Memorial Auditorium

With Airto Moreira. "Happy Halloween" drums into a very scary space. Transitions sweetly into the last St. Stephen ever.

Terrapin Station
Oct. 3, 1987
Shoreline Amphitheatre

One of my favorite shows from '87. The whole thing is filled with energy and power, and this is no exception.

Bird Song
Dec. 28, 1988
Oakland Coliseum Arena

One of the spaciest I've ever heard! Truly beautiful.

Loser
Oct. 18, 1972
Fox Theater

This whole show is tight and jammed out. While the playin' sandwich gets most of the attention the first set is amazing, and this is no exception!

Such a good version. Love to see Keith on the rhodes electric!
He's Gone
Sept. 21, 1972
The Spectrum

Idk why they included it on the dicks picks but this is actually from 9/3 at folsom field. Still, an amazing version that's really slept on
Scarlet Begonias

Adams Field House, U of Montana

Can’t forget the transition into Must’ve Been the Roses! A short but beautiful rendition.
Morning Dew
Oct. 19, 1973
Oklahoma City Fairgrounds Arena

Although I respect the versions at Cornell and the sportatorium, I can never get with dews after the break. Two drummers doesn’t really do it for me and the energy isn’t as high. Out of all the beautiful options before the break, this one hits different. The peaks are intense and the valleys just sublime, not a single note is put wrong, and the band clearly puts all of the energy they have left after the amazing dark star into it. One of the top 3 for me, only behind a couple versions from Europe 72.
Dark Star
Oct. 19, 1973
Oklahoma City Fairgrounds Arena

My favorite 73 show and this dark star will always have a special place in my heart. Dick Latvala said that "things take on new meanings" at this show.
