Bertha
July 27, 1974
Civic Center

Funky version slathered in Fender Rhodes gets an incendiary Jerry solo.

Space
March 20, 1991
Capital Centre

Ominous dark synth lead-in to a great Other One.

Sugaree
July 6, 1990
Cardinal Stadium

Wow, everyone’s playing the hell out of this Sugaree! The band is clearly ON.

Drums
May 17, 1978
Uptown Theater

These long freaky Drumses from ’78 are really compelling. The band must have felt so too, since Drums>Space, uh, stuck around!

When I Paint My Masterpiece
May 6, 1990
California State University Dominguez Hills

Jerry's solo is on point, really precise and eloquent.

Black Peter
Jan. 23, 1970
Honolulu Civic Auditorium

This one really works. A tight performance at a fairly brisk tempo, it’s an excellent representation of Black Peter in the era just before TC’s departure.
Good Lovin'
March 27, 1972
Academy of Music

This fantastic, deep bluesy jam works well as the centerpiece of the second set. Don’t pass this show by just because there’s no Dark Star or Other One.
China Cat Sunflower -> I Know You Rider
Oct. 11, 1989
Meadowlands Arena

Parts of the transition jam sound like they could have sprung from one of the era’s Terrapin outros. Very good and worth a listen when you want to hear a different take on China Cat Rider.
Eyes Of The World
April 3, 1982
The Scope

To my knowledge, this is totally unlike any of the other 381 versions played. It's played to the rhythm of Bertha!! And yes, the soloing really opens up as a result. This show is a treasure.
Scarlet Begonias -> Fire On The Mountain
April 3, 1982
The Scope

Wow, this really is unique. The Rhythm Devils step way back in the transition jam, and the musical conversation between the other four seems freer as a result.
