Space

Madison Square Garden

Super heady, effects-drenched Space that suggests what a fall ’79 Dark Star might’ve sounded like.

This really gets cookin’! Keith, Billy, and Jerry seem to be playing little rhythmic games, switching up the accents in interesting ways.

Splendid set closer with delightfully boisterous contributions from Keith and a permeating feeling of real joy.

Sweetly melodic outro, well-played. I really enjoyed this Space > Other One > Stella.

Forceful and confident, with rowdy playing from Bobby and Brent in particular.

Row Jimmy
June 10, 1976
Boston Music Hall

If you know the ’76 sound, you know how exquisitely rendered songs like Row Jimmy can be. Alternately delicate and emphatic, the dynamics are on full display here. One of the all-around best Jimmies I’ve heard in a while.

Also a neat little tug-of-war between -> Lost Sailor and -> Other One at the end. Other One wins out.
Help On The Way > Slipknot > Franklin's Tower
May 15, 1983
Greek Theatre - University of California

This is pretty great. Exuberant, determined, and focused all the way through. I'd say the Slipknot! benefits the most from the particular energy this night, but there are certainly beautiful passages in Franklin's as well. Easy upvote!
Brown Eyed Women

Good god!!! One of the best played and sung, ever, as others have said. Do not miss this. Also, check out the similarly strong Peggy-O from this show.

Lots of Keith on organ during the verses, which creates some novel textures.
