Let It Grow
June 14, 1985
Greek Theater

Spectacular depth, detail, and feeling. Drummers drive the transitions, while Jerry offers cool rhythmic variations.

China Cat Sunflower -> I Know You Rider
Dec. 5, 1969
Fillmore West

Exploratory transition jam! Very different from most early versions. Has that anarchic ’60s energy.

Black Peter
Dec. 5, 1969
Fillmore West

Practically flawless early version played with focus and intensity.

Dancin' in the Streets
Dec. 5, 1969
Fillmore West

High-velocity, high-power jamming magic, all packed into less than nine minutes. Intense. From a wonderful overlooked show.

Cosmic Charlie
Dec. 5, 1969
Fillmore West

Very well played and sung! Pity about the audience member humming along out of tune, but otherwise a fine ’69 AUD.

Phil seems to hint at the E-A-C jam from Music Never Stopped. Cool version.

“Precise” is right. Not a note out of place.
Turn On Your Love Light

Capitol Theater

Well, this is just nuts.

Yeah, Phil is all over this version. I wouldn’t say Jerry’s vocal delivery is lacking, though. He fumbles a lyric at the end, but the dynamics and feeling are all there. Great version, though. Casts a spell.

Paramount Northwest Theater

Ah, the Download Series Vol. 10 version is actually filler from 7/22. Great in any case!
