Sugar Magnolia

Capitol Theatre

Really love the haphazard way this one comes together- "Knew she knew she hadta come up soon for air!" Start the verse early and rap it instead, really really fun version
Pretty Peggy O
April 16, 1978
Huntington Civic Center

Just have to upvote and comment for this one, absolutely stellar solo that grooves just exactly perfectly, almost in a lo-fi kind of way. Send this Peggy-O to the top!
Jack Straw
July 9, 1989
Giants Stadium

Maybe the best version ever, and certainly in the conversation for it. The loudest, most rambunctious, passionate Jack Straw, and its a song that deserves that passion. Surprised it's so low, heads sleep on a lot post 70s, and 89's summer tour is not to be slept on!
Dear Mr. Fantasy
July 2, 1989
Sullivan Stadium

To be honest, thought this was a total shmuck post going through my first listen. Then the last minute and a half blew my head off. As far as greatest DMF goes, you could probably lop the last 2 minutes of this off and stick them on the first 5 minutes of 10/9/89 for the greatest possible mix. An average start that leads into a truly ridiculous pinnacle.
Dark Star
April 8, 1972
Wembley Empire Pool

Made an account to bring this one just a little bit higher. The last 5 minutes and following transition into sugar mags make for some of the most ethereal music the dead has ever played. The dead is feeling music, and I've never heard another tune they (or anyone else) has played that has felt like this incredible tumultuous journey through such a chaotic enigma of a Dark Star, and into such a serene, almost ghostly ending. If this is what dying and going to heaven feels like, then lay me down with my head in sparkling clover.
