Mind Left Body Jam
Oct. 30, 1973
Kiel Auditorium

Sandwiched between a dreamy Dark Star. Not the definitive version perhaps, but it belongs in the discussion.

Can believe this one isn't already here! A beautiful version from one of the top five shows ever played.

Near flawless version from a near flawless tour. The whole band is locked in on the home stretch here, and keith is hammerin' away on those ivories..

Beat it on Down The Line

Olympia Theater

Tight, inspired, rockin'. Best of the Euro '72 run. Give it some love, folks!

Deal

Rotterdam Civic Hall

One knows from Jerry's opening vocals "cost a lot to win" sung with extra twang, that it's gonna be rockin' with that good county, funky vibe.

Bird Song
Feb. 22, 1973
Assembly Hall, University of Illinois

I agree with Ernie5 - The indepth analysis offered by BZFGT is a labor of love, and love of this music! You're obviously a writer, but also a musician I suspect. Again, this Bird Song is glorious, as is the versions played on 2/17 and 3/16. All three of these need more upvotes!
The Other One
May 2, 1970
Harpur College

The freight train version. The most relentless, show-no-mercy, balls-to-the-wall reading out there. This one still face melts, after many years from hearing it for the first time. Where were you when you first heard it? What was the weather like? It's one of those colossal moments of a life time. This Other One is "the one".
Eyes Of The World
June 18, 1974
Freedom Hall

This show was a favorite among tape trading circles at boarding schools in the NE in the early 90s. This was the first '74 show I heard, and I still think it's the all around best from 1974. This Eyes is one of the reasons why! As I and a few others have stated, this version, along w/ 10/29/73, is the tightest reading available.
Bird Song
March 9, 1981
Madison Square Garden

I happened to listen to this show yesterday. One of my all time favorites from the 1980s. Indeed, this Bird Song is spectacular! I've always felt that the years for Bird Song were 1972, 1973... and 1981!
If I Had The World To Give
Nov. 20, 1978
Cleveland Music Hall

From one of the oddest and shortest second sets from their musical career! The segue from Shakedown into this lovely Jerry Ballad is both beautiful and brilliant. Bobby pushes the envelope a bit with the squawking slide, but it adds an engrossing and eerie flourish nonetheless.
