This version (and the show in general) most definitely deserves the growing accolades. The Truckin'->Other One->Brokedown serves as a prime example of why we love this band!

This one is a thing of beauty. The synergy between the boys this evening is undeniable, as this soaring Bird attest to. I think this one nips at the heels of the more celebrated Veneta.

I'm convinced this one would be ranked higher if more people heard it. As mentioned before, I think this is the best sleeper show of 1973, and I feel obliged to do all I can to alert people of this Playin' and this show in general. One of my favorites from my favorite year.

One of the all time greats--make no mistake about it. This version is a gift that just keeps on giving with every new listen. I still give 6/22 the nod for the best of the year, but this one is actually my favorite. This is the greatest sleeper Bird song imho; in fact, I suffice it say that this show is the greatest sleeper show of 1973! The best kept secret from one of the Dead's most beloved years.

It’s the first time the Dead introduced the Feelin’ Groovy Jam into the China->Rider sandwich that would remain intact until their late ’74 hiatus. After Bill Graham’s introduction, the suite explodes like a mule kicking open a barn door. And the boys just keep the groove...The first set offers up the best Birdsong of 1973–this side of 6/22/73 of course. The whole show is worthy!
