A Keith-heavy version with a tight groove and a full sound. Love these early versions!

This one's somehow not on here? The classic opener to Dick's Picks 35, and a MONSTER of a version.

Simply beautiful. A gorgeous version of a gorgeous song. Jerry's solo is particularly powerful.

Entitled "Silver Apples of the Moon" on Infrared Roses - it's a Bruce and Vince duet that beautifully segues into "Dark Star"

The DRUMMERS...holy hell! They help elevate this peppy version. Great guitar work too - a highlight of the first set!

I like how Bobby catches himself here - "New Yor...uh...New England fillies." Yeah, us Heads in Maine aren't sure if Connecticut is in New York or New England either. ;D

Miles Davis' "In a Silent Way" is quoted during the transition between Drums and Space. It's a really neat interpolation!

Funny - this version's first verse and chorus are in the key of C rather than their usual key of A. The band switches back to A after that. My guess as to why they did this? Well, Promised Land is in C, and it kind of sounds like Jerry wanted to play Promised Land before realizing that they'd already played said track earlier in the show. So he quickly switches to JBG, then the band corrects after getting through the first bit of the song. Or...am I just imagining things?

??? What an oddly passive-aggressive response. People like what they like, man - all I'm saying. Don't overthink it.

Bummer about the slight messiness of the soundboard (even on the official box release) but the performance is superb. This one's a big standout coming right on the heels of a marathon Playin'.
