All due respect to those who like the Pigpen story versions, but if those songs are worth a dolla and a quarta, this one is worth a million bucks.

Hmm.. seems like whatever Jerry was enjoying this night certainly lent his voice a different character. In a really good way-- it sets this version apart. And it's not the most well-played solo, but it is an interesting one.

I'm one of those who will only vote and comment for one version of each song (which is probably why I have only voted on a handful of songs here, since it's hard for me to make up my mind). I also only use superlatives once-- there can only be ONE best, greatest, favorite, etc. This version of HCS contains my absolute favorite Jerryjam of all time-- that 3 minute section in the middle of this song is unreal.

Definitely more a fan of the livelier tempo with this song. I struggled picking between this version and the one from Nebraska a few days earlier, but eventually went with this one. I dunno why... probably because this solo is all jumpy and a little bit dancier than the one from 2/26.
