Just a hot, energetic version - lusty, you might say. The Lyceum run was great to listen to all the way through. Lots of relaxed energy - sure of their audience, still exploring, knowing the spots, hitting the notes, taking their time, giving their all

Agree with the comment on the musicality of this one. Keith understated, un-flashy-deeply tuneful - it's about the harmonics, sound and timing of the notes, not how many he plays. Feels like he gives Jerry a jumping off point for a meditative start quickly turning into an inspiredly (is that a word?) melodic solo. Commenters are right - this one is deep in the pocket. Such a loose, strong, lit up first set here, and TLEO is a highlight, along with Dire Wolf and Peggy-O. Love this show - flawed and spirited, transcendent even. With a small audience, in an out of the way venue, on a cold night, the Dead shine like crazy. You have to love 'em for it. And love the people who love 'em for making this blissful recording.

Sneaks up on you. Really a smooth ride, nice percolation from percussion, Lesh and Weir, some timely beautiful Keith licks - Jerry pulls off seamless, dreamy solo, modulations good, sweet voice throughout - a magic carpet ride around the corner
