El Paso

Felt Forum, Madison Square Garden

Lyrically precise, energetic playing, and everyone sounds like they're enjoying themselves. What more could you ask for on this one?

Playin' In The Band

The Palestra, U. of Rochester

The shorter versions need love to, and this one hits all the sweet spots.

Playin' In The Band
Feb. 3, 1978
Dane County Coliseum

Keith and Jerry strike up a very cool figure around 13:30 that makes this already excellent version truly special. Possibly the best Playin of the 2 drummer era.
Deal
Feb. 5, 1978
Uni Dome, U of Northern Iowa

If it weren't for the off vocals, this would easily be the best Godchaux-era Deal. Jerry's solo is one for the books.
Bird Song
Feb. 21, 1971
Capitol Theater

It's interesting to hear this one develop on stage, but this version isn't worth seeking out on its own merits.
China Cat Sunflower -> I Know You Rider
Feb. 21, 1971
Capitol Theater

Sort of a transitional version between the 60s standalones and the jammed out Keith-era versions. Interesting guitar lines on China and lots of Phil Bombs on the main jam in Rider.
Sugar Magnolia
Feb. 21, 1971
Capitol Theater

Jerry cranks up the wah and the overdrive and divebombs the main solo break like a man possessed.
