Sure it's only a tease that's aborted for El Paso, but it's Veneta, so it has to be the best!

Melodic and intense, by far my favorite space melts into Stella. Very underrated show.

Playin' In The Band

Sullivan Stadium

I suppose it was heady to open the show with Playin, but the song itself is a 5 1/2 minute warmup that they cut off and veer into Crazy Fingers before the jam even gets going.

Lemieux played this on TIGDH this morning. Slower than usual tempo for the 80s increases the intensity of this version. Very nice.
Queen Jane Approximately
July 2, 1989
Sullivan Stadium

This whole first set is nice. You can hear the laid back summer-y vibe throughout the whole set. Just listening transports me to a big stadium where 70k new friends are dancing around in the heat full of joy without a care in the world. This Queen Jane fit perfectly into the vibe of the set.
Dark Star

I upvoted this. When evaluating this version vs other Dark Stars, it's one where the distinction between "best" and "favorite" is important. "Best" implies a qualitative aspect, and this version as a musical piece cannot possibly hold a candle to the 25-45 min improvisational masterpieces of the early 70s. It's just the first verse, 12 min or so of type 1 jamming, then the last verse. On the other hand, it is easily one of my favorites, which is a completely subjective concept with no qualitative aspect to it. When I'm in the mood to just sit back and relax and groove for a while to destress or whatever, this is a goto number for me. I just love the groove they're in.

"Shitty" is the wrong way to describe this. It's really just nothing. Between the first part and the reprise, it's about a minute and a half. There's just nothing there. It certainly shouldn't be on this list, though. Who are the 6 people who voted for this version? I mean, really?
