Help On The Way > Slipknot > Franklin's Tower
April 9, 1983
Hampton Coliseum

Fantastic version, but at 4:26, you can't but wish it was about 8 minutes longer.

13 min slipknot, how is this not higher up. it's exploratory to the max.

Luckily, speed isn't the main thing about slipknot, this one should be higher up; it's deep space exploration.

Charlie Miller version is so clean you can feel Jerry towering above, jamming while staring into something far beyond :) He leads the first half of the song, shredding it, lifting up the energy levels before the vocal and instrumental onslaught we all love Sugar Magnolia's for. Donna is actually good in this version. Even excellent I might say. Wonderful tone of voice and only once does she really crack to those ear piercing shrieks from PITB's. it's Bobby who sounds like a dying crow here, but who can blame him? I can't stop singing either :) When you are feeling down, nothing better than a few upbeat and hypnotic sugar magnolias to bring back that swing in the hips and a smile on the lips.

This is much better than Veneta. Mathew Vernon's upload on archive has the best sound of the available versions. The only downside is that we don't have a high quality soundboard of it. Bobby becomes a persona of such staggering energy that I felt like Iggy pop took over on stage. The music, feeds him, and he feeds of it, and the usual Dead, two snakes eating each other combo is achieved.
