It's the first standalone, post-hiatus Let It Grow and boy do they make it clear this is a wholly new creature now shorn of the rest of Weather Report Suite. The jam meanders a little in places, but it's smooth, sleek and jazzy throughout. Has that 'groovy' 1976 element in spades.

I've been exploring the Jerry Laryngitis Period of early 78, where there are a lot of big jams to make up for how weak Jerry's voice is. This is a really good example of the great stuff you'll find from then. If you include the proto Space jam at the end, it's a combined 20 minute chonker which is quite a while for 78. Lots of ferocity from Jerry, Keith and Bob. Almost gets a bit brooding as it segues into the jam.
