One of the more languid takes on this one. Although Jerry's voice is shot, it works. Notable for 2 runs through the solo, both of them stellar.

Explosive jam makes this one a bit unique. Not as smooth and complex as some later versions, but synergy and chops by all.

Smokes from head to tail. No SBD, or this would be top 5 with ease.

I fully expect this one to rise in popularity once the BBD arrives.

Nice AUD has Jerry up front. Great solo in SB, transition is interesting, with nice cascading riffs, followed by a Hot FOTM.

It has to move you, no matter how good, i.e. passion, Technical ability, energy, timing, etc., it is. One thing I have found in the process is I prefer some of my own lower rated versions to higher rated ones using this method. As an example, Technically superior 5/25 moves me less than the .25 lower rated 5/11, and 5/5, which drops a further .25. This has it's limits, as all are in the top 15%. Others I can see why people enjoy them, although they don't really move me. Others I fail to see what the fuss is about. These I am likely to comment on. Not having a dog in the fight helps. I have some high regards for a pair of 94s I attended and enjoyed. I don't believe they are going to fare well, sentiments aside.

As fate would have it, #127 is this version. A great succinct review is in the entry by nonoyolker. I don't have much to add to Grendel's review. Nit picks- three or four slightly sour notes in the first chorus of the SB solo and a gear or two is ground in the Trans. It means nothing. What I really love about this and some other '77s, is that Fire actually swings a little, which it rarely did in latter years. Also, I Used more variations on the word "beautiful" in reviewing this one than any other. Never really noticed, but besides the slower tempo, there's a slight melancholy vibe in Fire, which really captures the essence of the song for me. Way near the top of '77 in my book. Literally, I'm on volume 3.... +1 ETA- Grendel, a large part of the inspiration for this endeavor came from your challenge in comments on Barton. "If you feel like an objective experiment"... Someday, vengeance will be mine. :) Everyone should try this anonymous method, it can be fun and ear-opening. My ex-favorite of 91 sits moderately below average on my list. Attendance bias......

Triumph through adversity. Tentative at the outset, gels quickly, well sung and fine guitar solo, Transition has that mellow intensity that I love about this band, but gets fiery and chaotic, too. Despite the fact that parts of the sound system explode and JG's rig takes a nap for a bit in Fire, the Band plays on, and delivers some fantastic and fiery jamming on this one. Hear what you think.

17 Votes? These folks must have the Dank hookup... Sikuri aside, You know why there's a big percussion jam in Fire? Garcia's out to lunch. Does anyone listen to these before voting? For instance, behold the once great Garcia's guitar solo in SB... of the 6 chorus' perhaps one and a half of them are coherent. Not just sloppy or out of tune... Incoherent. < could use caps lock.

Cacophony. Unsettling, but not like a good deep Space or Throbbing Gristle. Bobby is particularly abrasive, and no one is on whatever little beat there is. Don't try this at home.
