One of the more languid takes on this one. Although Jerry's voice is shot, it works. Notable for 2 runs through the solo, both of them stellar.

Explosive jam makes this one a bit unique. Not as smooth and complex as some later versions, but synergy and chops by all.

Smokes from head to tail. No SBD, or this would be top 5 with ease.

I fully expect this one to rise in popularity once the BBD arrives.

Nice AUD has Jerry up front. Great solo in SB, transition is interesting, with nice cascading riffs, followed by a Hot FOTM.

Of the over 100 I've reviewed in the past few months, this is the One.... The One that somewhere in the second jam of Fire, you cry out "By Crom, please make it stop!" Suffering through Jerry's feeble attempt at the Scarlet solo was sad and painful enough. Then, this bloated sow of a Fire brings you to new levels of horror.

I will cede you the SB, but I couldn't disagree more about the FOTM.

If they flubbed the date to 5/8/77 it would have 10 votes. Regardless of existence! ;)

Fine Scarlet with a great solo and a short, but playful transition. The FOTM is just fantastic! Exquisite intro, a couple of stratospheric jams, and an incendiary closing jam. Be forewarned, both the SBD and Auds suffer from a Cut Of Death around the 3rd verse.... +1

Out of tune, sloppy, the bridge is mushy, Some inappropriate keyboards, Garcia eats every verse of Fire, etc... But, I've never heard more melancholy reading of the duo. Garcia sounds absolutely morose from from the first chorus of his Scarlet solo until the final note decays. I love the feel of this one, Jerry really hits me on a profound emotional level here. If you know of a more mournful, dour version, spill the beans.
