One of the more languid takes on this one. Although Jerry's voice is shot, it works. Notable for 2 runs through the solo, both of them stellar.

Explosive jam makes this one a bit unique. Not as smooth and complex as some later versions, but synergy and chops by all.

Smokes from head to tail. No SBD, or this would be top 5 with ease.

I fully expect this one to rise in popularity once the BBD arrives.

Nice AUD has Jerry up front. Great solo in SB, transition is interesting, with nice cascading riffs, followed by a Hot FOTM.

Minus the half point reduction, what is the score? 3.5 stars? Genuinely curious.

Tough to grade 3 songs. Use a 5 star system for a total of 15? The Franklin's from "76 is untouchable, even by some higher rated ones, IMO. I am currently reviewing and grading every SB>FOTM recorded. I realized early on that some bias was occurring. So I anonymized them all to ensure as much objectivity as possible. Only after my evening review of the combo do I find out it's identity. I think this is the best way to approach the project. On a side note, Some giant's have fallen, and some unknown(to me) gems have surfaced. Also, a couple of the greatest Trainwrecks in Grateful Dead history occur in S>F.

Well played combo with a fantastic solo in Scarlet, the transition jam, though brief, fires on all cylinders. The FOTM is notable for a smoking jam after the second verse.

"Barely smoldering and I don't feel the heat, After 4 minutes still cant find the beat." There is some good playing in spots, but the beginning of Fire is a train wreck.

Embryonic version has a great tribal feel to it. Transition into HWAFOM works real well for me.
