One of the more languid takes on this one. Although Jerry's voice is shot, it works. Notable for 2 runs through the solo, both of them stellar.

Explosive jam makes this one a bit unique. Not as smooth and complex as some later versions, but synergy and chops by all.

Smokes from head to tail. No SBD, or this would be top 5 with ease.

I fully expect this one to rise in popularity once the BBD arrives.

Nice AUD has Jerry up front. Great solo in SB, transition is interesting, with nice cascading riffs, followed by a Hot FOTM.

Surprised this one isn't rated higher. I think it is clearly the best from 1971, and can stand with the best from 1972.

This one could use some more exposure. Nice and bouncy, with some fine playing by the whole band.

Give it spin, I think it trumps all of the July '81 versions. YMMV.

1981 was a prolific year for this pairing. Of the 4 versions on this short August tour, I like this one the best. Silky smooth playing, great tempo(s) and some fiery Garcia soloing. Band is in fine form for the entire combo, but the closing jam is especially thrilling.

From the moment Jerry kicks on the Mutron towards the end of Scarlet through the first solo in Fire is some Hot stuff. The rest is rather tepid, if well played.
